Fire Protection
Our fire protection products have been rigorously tested and proven to meet published standards as complete units and in specific installation scenarios.
Please refrain from modifying or adapting these products during installation, as we cannot guarantee their performance outside of the tested conditions.
If you have any uncertainties, consult an Allproof representative or a fire engineer for guidance on the best course of action.

Insulation
The R-value measures thermal resistance in the building and construction industry.
It is calculated by dividing the material thickness by the material’s ‘k’ value (thermal conductivity).
For example, 13mm (.013) / .035 = 0.3714285, which rounds to 0.3 to one decimal place.
This measurement varies between Europe and Australasia.
Our thermal and acoustic products meet all required New Zealand standards.
Level Threshold
NZBC Clause E2 External Moisture states that a channel drainage system shall comply with the below:
i) a minimum width of 200mm,
ii) a minimum depth of 150mm,
iii) a maximum length of 3700mm, and
iv) 1:200 minimum fall along length of channel towards a drainage outlet.
Grating over the channel that:
i) is supported independently of the door frame,
ii) is removable to allow access for cleaning,
iii) is specifically designed to accommodate imposed loads,
iv) has gaps sized to prevent the wheels of wheelchairs or mobility aids entering or being trapped, and
v) has a continuous gap of 12mm minimum from door frame and wall cladding.
Therefore a 3 sided channel without fall would not provide an accepted solution. Selecting a system specifically designed for level threshold with the above features will avoid going through an alternative solution process.
Yes. The Compliance Document for the New Zealand Building Code, Clause E2, External Moisture, as stated in 7.3.2.1, requires a concrete slab to have a “1:200 minimum fall along the length of the channel towards a drainage outlet.”
This is why forming a channel on-site is recommended. Even if a prefabricated channel measuring 150x200mm seems appropriate, it will not comply with the code.
Allproof can accommodate any variations in your level threshold channel width with our in-house design, development, and fabrication teams.
Our team will visit your site, discuss the available options, and determine the best solution for your project. We will then measure and design custom width frames tailored to your specific needs, ensuring a perfect finish for your project.
Allproof supplies a range of level threshold products designed for various installation scenarios. Engaging our services early in your project ensures we can help you find the best solution.
Our Level Threshold brochure outlines our product offerings and provides guidance on the factors to consider when selecting your system and installation methods for each product.
The New Zealand Building Code E2/AS1 stipulates the requirements for drainage in level threshold situations, which must be strictly adhered to. According to the Compliance Document for New Zealand Building Code, Clause E2, External Moisture, as detailed in Figure 17B for ground-level entry, a “minimum” channel size of 150mm x 200mm with a “1:200 minimum fall along the length of the channel towards a drainage outlet” is required, as stated in 7.3.2.1 Concrete slab.
Allproof has extensive experience in this area and offers a comprehensive range of solutions. We are always available to advise on product selection and assist with any questions, from initial building concept design to on-site troubleshooting, maintaining a strong reputation for service quality.
Code does not require the channels to be waterproofed. However, the MOE weathertightness document does show waterproofing to the slab upstand lapping into the channel. This is seen as good practice so that the channels, once installed, are “dry in service” and won’t be an area that will be seen as a damp space. Often an insulated slab to comply with H1 requirements will demand some form of membrane.
No, surface water must be directed through a sump, whereas stormwater can be connected directly to the drainage system. To accommodate the downpipe, it can be routed through the perimeter drain system by incorporating a socket into the channel for connection. However, it’s important to note that this arrangement may reduce the channel’s capacity. Therefore, it’s advisable to install outlets on both sides of the penetration to ensure compliance with regulations.
Product Install
Each of our leak control flange products may have slight variations, but they all serve the fundamental purpose of connecting to a pipe and providing a sturdy surface for waterproofing application. Installation details specific to each product can be found on the respective product pages, and we recommend consulting these guidelines before beginning the installation process.
As a general rule, the flange should be recessed into the substrate, securely fixed in place, and offer ample surface area for the membrane to adhere to. It’s essential to ensure that there is a surface fall towards the outlet to facilitate efficient drainage of all surface water.
Should you have any concerns or questions regarding installation, please feel free to reach out to us. We are committed to providing products that offer the utmost protection against moisture-related issues.

Roof Drains
Asphalt based membranes can be used with our cast brass drains and Sureflow plastic flanges. Designed with a thicker gauge PVC, our Sureflow flanges minimise the risk of warping or melting during membrane installation. This ensures a smooth and reliable installation process for your waterproofing needs.

Installation methods for our shower channels and wastes may vary from product to product. However, it’s crucial to ensure that when forming the floor, there is always a slope towards the channel. This ensures that any moisture, whether on the surface or sub-surface, is directed towards the outlet for efficient drainage.
The slope can be achieved using screed or a leveling compound. We recommend waterproofing the area according to the recommendations of the waterproofing supplier, ensuring a strong seal to the Allproof flange. This creates a fully sealed “tanked” area, enhancing waterproofing and preventing moisture infiltration.
For detailed installation steps, please refer to the product page in our brochure or check under the ‘Misc’ tab for relevant information.
For applications deviating from the norm, we advise engaging a hydraulics engineer to ensure optimal performance. As a general guideline, it’s recommended to have one outlet for each shower head and multiple outlets for channels exceeding 1500mm in length.
Opting for a tile-over shower tray presents a premium waterproofing solution, particularly ideal for high-moisture areas like showers. This choice significantly mitigates the risk of membrane failure, safeguarding your waterproofing barrier against damage during and after construction, even as the building settles and expands. Such preventive measures can effectively circumvent the need for expensive repairs that may arise from membrane failure, ultimately ensuring longevity and durability for your construction project.
At Allproof, we offer a custom channel service, manufacturing shower channels to meet your specific needs. You can place orders for these customised shower channels using our dedicated order forms, conveniently accessible on the relevant product page.
