Acoustic Pipe Insulation

For noisy pipes in buildings, NuWrap 5 is the effective and easy-to-install sound lagging solution. Also suitable for ducting and ventilation fans, it is supplied with 4-Zero foil facing as standard. Designed to meet the requirements of the building code, NuWrap 5 is available in rolls and as pre-cut ‘fittings’ for quick and easy installation. NuWrap 5 Acoustic Pipe Lagging combines acoustic convoluted open cell foam laminated to NuWave acoustic barrier.

Installation:

  • Ensure that all pipework has been pressure tested, clean, and no leakage detected.
  • Wrap product around pipe with joins facing downwards and a 50mm overlap wherever possible.
  • Use 72mm self adhesive foil tape along longitudinal joints and tape a band around the circumference at butt joins and between joints.
  • There should be a taped band or cable tie around pipe at approximately every 450-500mm spacing
  • There must not be any gaps between the NuWrap 5 joints. The smallest gap can result in loss of performance of the product.

Acoustic Perfomance

A result of 24dBA can be achieved on a 100mm floor waste gully with NuWrap 5 and the addition of 10mm plaster board.

To achieve the same results without NuWrap 5 the installation requires two layers of 13mm plasterboard to each side of 76mm steel studs with cavity infill of 50mm, 10kg/m3 glasswool.
